Who We Are
Izani is a South Africa-based nonprofit that creates opportunities for young people in Africa to compete in the digital economy.
For more than a decade, we worked as Global Leading Light Initiatives (GLLI), empowering thousands of young people and women in the Eastern Cape's townships and rural areas.
Under our new name, we continue the same mission, with fresh energy, stronger community ownership, and a vision for lasting change.
Why Izani?
“Izani” means “come forward” in isiXhosa, one of the Nguni languages in South Africa.
It’s an invitation.
It is a reminder that each person carries potential inside them that is worth growing. Our role as an organisation is to create the space and provide skills, resources and confidence for that potential to shine, so families and communities can thrive.
